Saturday Savings Round-Up

I’m going to try to make this a re-occurring article, but I’m a busy man.  So, I don’t want to hear you guys whining at me if I miss a Saturday.  Got that internet? Ok, good.

Steam – Indie Games Sale
Sorry Mac-owners, as I’m sure you’ve already cursed the Gods many-a-time over, Steam is PC only.

This weekend only, Steam is offering an award-winning indie games package, for $29.99. The bundle includes:

- Audiosurf – Any song from your library can be a level, is this mesmerizing glitch-Puzzler? I don’t know what it is, but I know it’s real easy to lose hours in a day playing it.
- Blueberry Garden – Award-winning, genre-defying Exploration game.
- Braid – Some might call it a Platformer, but Braid is so much more than a Mario-clone. Braid has the player manipulating time and space, to the point where I would be more likely to call it a Puzzle game. Prepare for head-spinning as you try to wrap your brain around this game, as the plot to this game is still being debated today.
- Crayon Physics Deluxe – A physics-based Puzzler, with limitless solutions, and an endearing childish aesthetic.
- Darwinia – Since I’m generalizing, let’s call this a Command & Conquer-esque Strategy game, but instead of world-domination, the battle-ground is inside your computer.
- Everyday Shooter – Some might call this a Geometry Wars clone, but it is much more than that. Everyday Shooter is a sketchy looking, Music game at heart, that takes time to unlock the secrets of its psychedelic enemies.
- Gish – You are an amorphous blob, and you are traveling through a physics-enabled world in this award-winning platformer.
- Mr. Robot – If you haven’t noticed yet, most of this games do not fit cleanly into a genre, and yet I continue to try. So, let’s call Mr. Robot an Action/RPG, with Puzzle and Platformer elements. You’re a robot named Asimov. Anymore details border on spoiler-territory.
- The Path – Red-Riding Hood re-imagined as an esoteric Horror/Exploration game.
- World of Goo – This is a gooey physics-based, Architecture game. Prepare to be addicted.
